Söhne Mannheims Jazz Department

Live and open air at the Ökonomierat Lind winery
23.08.2025 – 20:00

At the Palatia Jazz Festival 2021, the prominent "jazz heads" of SÖHNE MANNHEIMS - guitarist Michael "Kosho" Koschorreck, drummer Ralf Gustke and bassist Edward Maclean - delighted the audience with an open-air concert at the Ökonomierat Lind winery. The new edition will now follow on August 23rd - with jazz anchored in pop and exciting special guests!

In 2020, SÖHNE MANNHEIMS JAZZ DEPARTMENT caused a sensation with its debut album, entering the top 5 of the German iTunes jazz charts . Jazzpodium magazine praised the music as "sensitive and tastefully reduced," while Jazzthing praised the "elegantly flowing music."

The album presented well-known SÖHNE MANNHEIMS hits such as "Das hat die Welt noch nicht gesehen" (The World Has Not Seen This Yet) and "Geh davon aus" (Assume It) in completely new, delicate jazz versions with sophisticated phrasing and rhythmic finesse. The Jazz Department not only reinterprets its own songs, but also performs original compositions as well as jazz and pop classics live.

Musically directed by Edward Maclean , the trio, with Kosho's virtuoso guitar playing and Gustke's legendary drums, is in a class of its own. The musicians are an integral part of the international scene – whether with Chaka Khan, Xavier Naidoo, Nils Wülker, or Barclay James Harvest .
